The ABCs of Becoming a Christian.

This is a simple way to talk about how to receive Jesus as you Savior and Lord.

A – stands for Admit
The Bible says you have to admit you are a sinner and that you need to repent of your sins and ask God to forgive you.  Two verses from the Bible tell us this truth. Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”  This verse tells us that everyone has broken the law of God and stand guilty of disobedience to His commands.  Everyone has sin in their lives. Luke 13:3 says, “…unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”  Repentance means turning from someone (yourself) and to someone (the Savior – Jesus Christ).

B – stands for Believe
You need to believe that Jesus Christ is God’s Son who died on the cross for your sins, was buried and rose again.  You must accept His forgiveness for your sins.  Two verses from the Bible help us here.
Romans 10:11 says, “…Whoever believes in Him will not be put to shame” or if you believe in Jesus Christ and come to God with that faith you will be accepted by Him.
John 1:12 – “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in Him name.”  If you believe in Jesus God will give you the privilege of becoming a child of God by faith.

C – stands for Confess

You need to confess your faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord.  That means that you need to say to others that you have received by faith Jesus Christ as your Savior and the Boss of your life. In Luke 19:10 Jesus said, “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”  Jesus’ purpose in coming and dying on the cross was to save lost people. Romans 10:9 says, “That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.”

A simple prayer of repentance and faith – “Dear God, I know that I am a sinner.  I know that you love me.  I confess my sin and need of salvation.  I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and arose from the grave.  I turn away from my sin and place my faith in Jesus as my Savior and Lord.  Thank you for forgiving me and coming into my life.  I want to follow you all the rest of my life.  Amen!”

If you prayed this simple prayer of faith from your heart, we welcome you to the family of God.  If we can be of assistance to you please contact us.  If you do not live in or near the Okeechobee Florida area find a local Bible believing church and become a part of that body of believers.  If you live near us we’d love to have you worship with this body.
